Th result of all the "I want I want I want!!!!" and "I DON'T care how old I am! I just WANT!!!", which later on became, "You better get it for me... or else!!!" and "Plureeezeeeee baby pleassseeeeee", that finally ended with, "If you love me, you'll get it..."
All that shameless begging, arm flinging and feet stamping paid off. I'm the proud recipient of a huge, cute, tubby Goofy with stubby legs and a goofy grin. I'm so happy, I'm even going to throw in an emoticon here : )
Thank you Mr Goh!!!

If there's any, or for the matter ONLY heavy metal album you listen, then you need to listen to this. RAW power and energy, this album defined the sound of heavy metal. Caution! Some very depressing and bleak stuff (from horror, scif-fi, death, drug abuse, nuclear destruction etc). And you must watch their live performances! Ozzy Osbourne is nuts!

one final round of inventory check before i go to bed. i'll be home soon. i won't be back till the wee hours of Christmas day, so wishing everyone a blessed Christmas.
i heard this in a sermon on Sunday - we hope for dreams that can come true. not some far fetched dream or idea. hope is for something we know can come true. that is the essence of hope.
in this season of hope, may we dream of peace - not just the absence of conflict but shalom - peace and wholeness, and 和平 - peace and harmony. may we look forward to that day, knowing that it can and will come.
so shalom on Earth, and goodwill to all humankind.

礼轻情义重
while i am one who is mindful of how consumerism dominates our psyche, how we sometimes substitute physical presents for actual presence and gifts for relationship, i am also aware that sometimes we need tangible things to remind ourselves of the embodiment of our relationships and our connections with one another.
i am grateful for the condolence card that crossed the pacific ocean that was the tangible reality of friendship, love and solidarity in the time i needed it most; i am thankful for the gifts that remind me of people on the other side of the planet.
these are the gifts that are worth their weight in gold, and a thoughtful gift is worth a dozen mugs/ calendars / photo frames / anything given for the sake of giving.

The new Super Mario Bros Wii is an excellent group game. I've never laughed so hard nor cry from laughing before. The interaction, the cuckoo music..hilarity must ensue! Ah Bliss. But it's so boring as a single player though......still the neighbours do wander why a grown man keeps shouting and screaming as if the cat died when Mario takes a plunge... The best Mario EVER!
anyways...
As I sat myself down to complete World 3, a call came! Canon has found my lens! The officer apologised and offered a free delivery to my place. But that would take time (earliest thursday) since the courier is an external agent. Hmm not really what I wanted to here. If I were the manager, I'd rush it down personally as I mentioned in the previous post.
I said that was not acceptable and I would go down to collect it myself. It was the second time at Canon that made me really disappointed. I knew of two staff who were involved/handling my case. Neither wanted to make any eye contact - the entire time. So I took a number and waited.
My number was next. And what a coincidence, the girl who served me earlier was free. But oh no..she decided it was time for a toilet break or whatever. The other guy was somewhat free too but promptly kept himself busy.
You know.. I just wanted to get my lens back. The poor thing has been through enough already. I was willing to let the matter slide. But I don't believe customers should be pushed around like that. But I checked my temper and see what would happen.
My number was finally called (both staff involved nowhere to be found). This girl didn't even know what happened. She wanted my blue form but I told her the other girl Felicia took it since I was here this morning. This left her baffled so I told her I'm here a second time because you all lost my lens. This shocked the guy next to me and I think I worried him a bit when he handed his L lenses over for servicing. LOL.
At that time I felt a little sorry for the girl attending to me. She had NO CLUE what was going on and was abandoned by the other two. The girl next to her had a little more sense and tried to help her. So lens was found and returned to me. It was fixed (though not exactly cleaned).
No comes the icing on top of the cake. I was actually more than willing to pay full price. I wasn't expecting anything. But...what the hell!!
"Wah! Still charging me full price ah?" I said JOKINGLY. The girl laughed.. I laughed. The guy with the L lenses next to me didn't.
"Petrol very expensive leh.. I had to come down twice!". We laughed somemore and she said she'll check. Check? Hmm
It was all very funny... they actually had a conference in the workshop. I pretended not to notice.
After a LONG discussion you know what's the outcome? a 20% discount. LOL... ah well.. my hiam lah.
Anyways..I wonder how often this sort of thing happens. I hope I'm a lucky case. If often..its bad, since there's nothing in place to help/aid the customer. Asking me to go to lunch first doesn't cut it. The offer for free delivery was perhaps ok but still not enough I think. I mean if the lens was a cheap piece of plastic fine. But we're talking a quality and expensive thing. You think your customer will trust an external courier after the company itself lost the lens? I don't think so.
Singapore has a long way to go man. Long way to go.

I am not impressed and need some advice.
1. Canon lost my lens! I sent my lens for repair and was told it would take five working days. Fair enough. I received an SMS last night informing me that my lens was ready for collection - and would cost $80. All this was told to me (and I was largely relieved) before hand so no issue.
Today (5th working day) I went down to Canon. When my number was called, a new lens with shiny new filter was presented to me. Eh? Before I could say "that's not my lens" the counter staff quickly read my expression and checked the serial number. Uh-oh. I waited 10 mins (although I was told to 'wait a minute') while she went to the look for my lens. Oops...can't find it.. apparently another person also sent the same lens for repair with almost same name. Almost? Donald Sim and Darren Sim are quite different.
"Will you be in the area? We need some time to look for the lens. Maybe you go have lunch or something?" What could I say? I didn't want to be difficult. So I said ok and headed to Vivocity next door for lunch. ONE hour later I received the depressing news.
"So sorry Sir, I believe your lens was released to another customer. We will try to arrange to get back the lens by tomorrow. So maybe you can come down again or we arrange to send to you? When do you need the lens?" "Well, as soon as possible - I need it for Christmas." I said. "Oh then maybe sending to you will take some time." I didn't like that reply. A good customer service officer (and company policy at that) would tell me they would rush the lens down for you for free. I didn't ask if I had to pay for the delivery (although I suspect I would).
So come tomorrow, if my lens is found and I go down tomorrow what should I expect? Should I ask for a waiver in service and repair charges? I don't want to be difficult nor kick up a fuss, but it really felt like it happened rather often. And I do want to be firm about this not happening to me or any other person. Also, I can safely say I'll be going back for more serviceing, cleaning etc.. Don't want to be blacked marked either.
I don't want to think what the other person might do to my lens - but being a photographer too I'm sure it'll be treated well. Then again he took a lens with no filter - surely he must have noticed that? Or worse what if they really lost the lens? I should be compensated for a brand new one yes? And not one of those priviledged customer discount schemes right?
Or heaven forbid they say they are not liable!?
2. The school computer took 35mins to load. 35 MINUTES. And I had to wait 15 mins for the browser to start school email. Shit. What an irritating day. Esepcially when you have 101 other things to do!
